Posts in Quotes
There are two parts to a successful social media strategy:

1. Content - you must have high quality, meaningful, and relevant content AND you must be consistent. This means posting at least 5 days a week and staying in within your interest group/industry. For example: If you are an interior designer and the majority of what you post is home related then the following you have grown knows and expects that from you. So, if all the sudden you switch and start posting about food, many of your followers will be disappointed. They followed you because they want to see interior design. As a result, you’ll most likely see your following decrease and your engagement go down. This is not to say that you can never change your mind but if you’re looking to grow, then it is important to do your best to stay consistent and stay on brand - (If you absolutely know that you want to transition your account into a new industry then there are some ways to ease this transition - I’ll talk more about that later this week)

2. Marketing - it is NOT enough to just post good content everyday. To be successful on social media and to grow your following, you must be social!! This means you have to engage with other users on a daily basis. By engagement I mean: liking, commenting, following, sharing and messaging. <— these are the currency 💰 of social media. And guess what... you have an endless supply of it! So give it out freely! - everyday you should be liking, commenting, etc. on not only your followers content but also on new accounts! This is how you capture the attention of new followers and really grow your influence!

Sound like a lot of work? I’m not gonna lie, it is!

So if your feeling overwhelmed or discouraged then start slow. Set aside 1 hour everyday (15 min to post, 45 min to engage!) and work your way up from there.

If you simply don’t have the time or just don’t want the added responsibility, then a full service management agency like @amr_digital might be the way to go!

If you play it safe now, you’re going to sell yourself short in the end.

We’ve all heard the saying, If you are the smartest person in the room, find a different room.

Why? Smart people make you smarter. It’s as simple as that. Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer has an anecdote that sums up why.

She says, “Laura Beckman was the daughter of my piano teacher and a great volleyball player. was given the choice of joining the varsity team, where she would sit on the bench for the year, or junior varsity, where she would start every game.

“Laura shocked everyone and chose varsity. The next year she came back as a senior, made varsity again and was a starter. The rest of the players who had been on junior varsity were benched for their entire senior year.

I asked Laura: ‘How did you know to pick varsity?’ Laura told me: ‘I just knew if I got to practice and play alongside the best players every day, it would make me better. And that’s exactly what happened.’ The same thing happens in the professional workplace.”

The road to success is NOT a straight path. You can climb the corporate ladder but in the end you’re going to come in second to someone like Laura.

So take Laura’s approach. Think long term and think strategy!

Be humble. No one in their 20s has truly made it. If you think you’ve peaked, it’s time to find another mountain. Your 20s are the time to learn and grow. Don’t think money, think strategy. Work for free, ask for guidance, build your network, surround yourself with successful people who inspire you to up your game, do whatever it takes to gather as much knowledge and experience as you possibly can.

If you play it safe now, you’re going to sell yourself short in the end.

Words of Wisdom from Garyvee

This is the difference between branding and selling. Gary Vaynerchuk says it best,

“I’m building for the long term, because I think it’s about brand. So many of you are in it for the quick sale, and you are going to be forgotten. I build trust by giving away all of my content for free and then every three years or so, I write a book, and ask if your interested to buy it.

The difference between branding and sales is simple. Are you trying to convert or are you trying to create an experience? The latter always wins.

The reality is, the greatest companies in the world don’t sell. They brand. Think of Apple as a prime example… When, if ever, have you received an advertisement from Apple telling you to BUY their product? It never happens. Apple focuses on building a relationship that will last by deploying all of their energy into branding and showcasing how your life will change once you switch to iPhone. Their ads are about sharing an experience, about the simplicity and ease of use of their products. About how great it is to use the Mac. It’s all about branding.”

Must Read Books/How to Master a Skill

How often are you actively investing in furthering your education? How often are you scheduling out time in your day to listen to a podcast, take an online course, read a book, attend a conference or panels, meet with a mentor, etc.

Take a moment and think about it. When was the last time that you set aside time to invest in your education and actually learn something new. And no, mandatory events and workshops from your work do not count.

If it’s been more than a week since you did this, then this ones for you!

You should be setting time aside every single week to learn something new. If you want to stand out and be truly successful, you have to develop a specialized skill set and not just develop it but seek to master it.

Mastery doesn’t happen by chance. It is the result of intentionally and consistently investing time, effort and dedication.

If you feel like you genuinely don’t have time during the week. Then Sunday is a great day to dedicate to this. And it shouldn’t feel like a chore. In fact, this is a time that I genuinely look forward to every week.

So, if you’re looking for a new book and/or if this dedication sounds anything like you, then I highly recommend you check out @garyvee newest book - Crushing It. I’m sure most of you already know/follow @garyvee but for anyone who doesn’t, this guy is truly impressive and inspiring!

The Biggest Marketing Mistake Small Businesses Make

I tell this to my clients all the time. The power of social media is that it levels the playing field for businesses. You no longer need a huge corporate advertising budget to reach the masses.

Social media gives you the power to build your own audience for little to no cost.

There are 3 parts to building an effective social media strategy for a business.
1. Number of followers
2. Quality of followers
3. The content you are posting

When you see your account start to grow it’s easy to get caught up in the number of followers and neglect the other two components. The reason this is dangerous is because the power of your social media lies in the loyalty of your audience NOT the size of it.

So how do you build and measure the loyalty of your audience. In the social media world we call this statistic: Engagement. This is a measurement of the percentage of your following that is actively engaging with your content and taking steps to learn more about your products and brand. These people have entered the first step of your sales funnel and are on their way to becoming paying customers. This is arguably the most important statistic for businesses to focus on when measuring a successful social media strategy or campaign.

The last but definitely not least component is content. Having a large and engaged audience means nothing if you’re not conveying a clear message!

The content you post on your social media is not the same as what you would post in a traditional advertisement. Meaning it is not a sales pitch. I tell my clients to think of this content as their gift of free education to their audience. You want to teach your followers about your brand, who you are, what you stand for, and what you have to offer. The goal is not a quick sale. The goal is to build trusting and lasting relationships. These relationships create loyal customers.

The great news is that any business can do this and it’s free! So if you are a small business, an entrepreneur or even a soloprenuer it’s time to STOP THINKING SMALL! The tools are technology are here, so get on board and take advantage of it!

High Performance Habits with Brendon Bruchard

I’ve been listening to @brendonburchard ebook podcast, High Performance Habits, and he references this quote from Howard Thurman.

It resonated with me because as business owners and entrepreneurs I feel like we are always pushing ourselves to solve consumer problems with new and innovative solutions. This is important, but it’s not the key to success. I truly believe that the key to success is passion! Passion drives motivation, innovation and dedication. All of these are essential to achieving and maintaining high performance and lasting success!

How many of you have listened to or read High Performance Habbits??

If you haven’t, I highly recommend it. I love @brendonburchard I think his teaching style is incredible and his story is so inspiring! (And he recently released the book on the podcasts app for free!) Check it out and let me know what you think! 😆

Marketing Should be an Even Exchange

I LOVE how marketing is becoming more about educating and less about selling.

Marketing should be an even exchange. As marketers, it is our job to give consumers VALUE! We should always be focused more on giving than taking.

There is no place for deception, misrepresentation or dishonesty in modern marketing. Furthermore, if your intentions are one-sided, you will loose in today’s market.

AMR’s strategic marketing approach is all about creating honest and lasting relationships. Our job is to connect consumers with products or services that fulfill a specific need they have and will ultimately add value to their lives. We are, in a way, match makers. We are two entities searching for a meaningful and lasting connection and the best way to do this is to be AUTHENTIC and REAL!

A Tribute to Millennials

The Millennial generation receives tons of criticism. People say we’re lazy, not hard working, entitled, etc.

There’s so much negative talk that our successes are often overlooked.

We may appear lazy to older generations, but it’s because we have learned to take advantage of the technology we have that makes our lives easier in so many ways. We may not work as hard, but that’s because we’ve learned to work smarter. We value efficiency and convenience. We’re resourceful. We’re forward thinkers. Millennials are exclusive with their time. We work fast and are driven by progress. We may seem entitled but it’s only because we see a world of potential ahead of us. We have big dreams and ambitions and we value fulfillment over stability. We were born into a day and age where travel is for everyone and location does not limit communication. It’s pretty freaking incredible when you really think about it!

So yes, the millennial generation is different but it’s because the world is different!

To all the college students and recent graduates...

This one is for all the young people out there. To all the college students and recent graduates. Life does not end after college. The best parts of your life are still to come.

The first year after college is tough. It’s a weird time in life where everything is uncertain. I know for me, I felt totally and completely lost and it took me a long time to realize that it’s okay to not have it all figured out.

It’s okay to not know what you want to do with your life. It’s okay not know what will come in the next year or month of your life. The truth is, most people don’t know! And the ones that think they know, aren’t always right.

So, how do you figure it out? How do you move forward in spite of uncertainty? The best advice I can give you is to identify what you do know and let that guide you. If you know you want to travel the world, then use that as your guide and build a future for yourself that allows you to do that. If you love to ski, find a job that allows you to indulge in that passion regularly! Whatever it is for you, trust it, stay true to yourself, let it guide you, and don’t sacrifice it for a job or career that doesn’t fit you.

Your twenties are for exploring your passions and discovering all that the world has to offer. The best years of your life are not over, in fact, they have barely even begun! You have the opportunity to create a life for yourself that you are truly proud of and you have plenty of time to make it happen. That’s pretty exciting!

The Girls Who Inspired Me to Launch AMR Digital

I want to take a moment to shoutout you one of my favorite #girlboss #influencer accounts @bucketlistbombshellsbucketlistbombshells

One year ago, I was sitting on my couch scrolling through my Facebook feed on my phone, wondering what the efff I was going to do with my life. (I had just quit my job and moved back home with my parents - needless to say it was not a high point in my life). _
I stumbled upon Cassie and Shay’s Instagram @bucketlistbombshells . They were two brilliant young entrepreneurs who had quit their desk jobs and started their own online business while simultaneously traveling the world full time. Their feed was a stunning collection of photos showing them (two best friends) traveling around the world, visiting amazing destinations, and loving life all while making a killer living working remotely.

Before I knew it I was two years deep in their feed, feeling like a serious stalker! But I didn’t care because, for the first time in a long time I felt inspired and hopeful and excited. I had this amazing realization that this was what I was meant to be doing with my life.

Looking back now, I can’t believe this is actually my life. I LOVE my job, I work whenever and wherever I want, and I wake up every morning with a burning passion for life. And I owe a huge THANK YOU to these girls @bucketlistbombshells for encouraging me to actually go for it!

I created AMR with the same intention. I want to be that person for you and your business who helps you share your message with the world and transform your dream into a reality!

3 Things You Should Never Feel Guilt For

No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.

So.... don’t let them!

It’s hard to stand up for yourself and stay true to your vision all the time. But it’s even harder to end up in a position where you feel like you’ve lost yourself and your purpose in life.

Notice how I say hard, not impossible! If you are in that place where you feel lost or guilty or hopeless, know that you are not stuck there. It’s NEVER too late to make a change!

How to Make the Leap from Quitting your 9-5 Desk Job to Being your own BOSS!

I know I’m always posting about the importance of taking control of your life and encouraging you to make that leap towards accomplishing your goals. Well taking that leap and actually quitting your job is freaking scary. I’ve been there and I totally get it. But, I’m also here to calm your nerves and tell you, once again, to have faith in the process!!

I honestly believe that the key to success in starting your own business is having the ability to sell yourself and your idea.

I know at least half of you are thinking.... sales?! Fuck, that’s not what I want to do with my life. There are two types of people in the world sales people and non-sales people. I am most definitely a non-sales person.

To put things in perspective, my first job out of college I worked selling advertising for Yelp. I worked there for 3 months and made ZERO sales. The worst part was I was really trying!! I busted my butt everyday. (If I hadn’t I definitively would have been fired haha). Anyways, long story short, I was the worst sales person everrrrr.

So after what felt like the longest 3 months of my life. I QUIT - it was the best day I’d had in a longggg time! I had no idea what I was going to do with my life but I knew it was not going to be sales.

A couple months later I started AMR and within the first quarter I was making sales like crazy! And it was so easy and natural!!

How is this possible? The key to selling anything (whether it be yourself or a product) is passion. When you are super passionate about something it shows in your voice, your energy, and your presence and that energy is contagious!! It gets other people super excited about what you’re doing! And then SALES happen. And then just like that you have income! And stability! And most importantly - MOMENTUM! And that’s how you make the leap from quitting your 9-5 desk job to being your own BOSS!

The Cost of Kindness

It costs absolutely nothing to be kind and supportive!

Starting your own business is a wild and crazy and emotional roller coaster. All of you entrepreneurs out there know this. And I’m sure you all remember those people who made you feel insecure about your dreams. The ones who told you that you’d never make it, and urged you to play it safe and minimize your ambition. The ones who were just waiting for you to fail (and you did, but you got up and KEPT TRYING). Sometimes it’s not the words they say but just the tone of their voice or look in their eye that you can tell they think you’re crazy.

Now I want you to reflect on who your biggest supporter is. The person or people that have been there and believed in through every up and down. The ones who challenge you to think even bigger because they know you are destined for great things. These are the people who help us rise!

It’s up to you who you want to be. You can’t control the haters but you can control yourself and how you impact the people you know and love. So be that person that inspires and supports others. Entrepreneurship can be a rocky and lonely path. Everyone needs someone in their corner to believe in them and cheer them on!
