To all the college students and recent graduates...

This one is for all the young people out there. To all the college students and recent graduates. Life does not end after college. The best parts of your life are still to come.

The first year after college is tough. It’s a weird time in life where everything is uncertain. I know for me, I felt totally and completely lost and it took me a long time to realize that it’s okay to not have it all figured out.

It’s okay to not know what you want to do with your life. It’s okay not know what will come in the next year or month of your life. The truth is, most people don’t know! And the ones that think they know, aren’t always right.

So, how do you figure it out? How do you move forward in spite of uncertainty? The best advice I can give you is to identify what you do know and let that guide you. If you know you want to travel the world, then use that as your guide and build a future for yourself that allows you to do that. If you love to ski, find a job that allows you to indulge in that passion regularly! Whatever it is for you, trust it, stay true to yourself, let it guide you, and don’t sacrifice it for a job or career that doesn’t fit you.

Your twenties are for exploring your passions and discovering all that the world has to offer. The best years of your life are not over, in fact, they have barely even begun! You have the opportunity to create a life for yourself that you are truly proud of and you have plenty of time to make it happen. That’s pretty exciting!

TGI-Monday: How to Make Monday Your Favorite Day!

TGI-Monday my friends! As many of you already know, I love Monday’s - which I know is not normal. And trust me, it hasn’t always been like this.

So, what changed? My attitude! Easier said then done though, right? Well here’s some tips on where I started.

1. Start a journal - wake up everyday (especially Monday’s) and write down 3 things you are grateful for in your life.

2. Move your body! Go to the gym, go on a walk, do some yoga, whatever it is you like to do - make time for it on Monday’s!

3. Eat a healthy and full breakfast, I know I sound like your mom, but this seriously makes all the difference. Your brain will be sharper, your energy better and you will feel happier!

4. Try to go all day without complaining about it being Monday. Even if you are miserable - keep it to yourself. Energy is contagious and the second you start sharing that negative energy it will affect your motivation and the people’s around you. (Just to clarify: I’m not saying you can’t talk about your feelings with your friends, just be conscious of how you express yourself).

5. Positive self talk. Give yourself a pep-talk, stand in super hero position (those of you who watch greys anatomy know), meditate - whatever it is for you that makes you feel powerful and unstoppable!

6. Treat yourself to a glass of champagne or a nice dinner with friends! Make a reoccurring date night so you have something to look forward to on Monday nights!

Try it out and let me know what you think! 😊

You Can't Buy Engagement, You have to Build it!

Social media is the singular most powerful digital marketing tool out there. The reason being is that it allows you to cultivate and create your own audience rather than trying to fit into someone else's.

What do I mean by creating your own audience?

Here's an example: Let's say you have created a new sports medicine technology for professional athletes that doubles the speed of muscle recovery. When creating your marketing strategy, you decide to advertise on TV. You grab a space on ESPN, create the perfect ad, targeting these professional athletes. The ad airs for one week and the results are completely insignificant. It's not effective. Why? Because most of the people watching ESPN are sports fans - not professional athletes. Many of them are not active at all and have absolutely no need or interest in your product. So if this isn't the right network then what is?! The problem is not the network, the problem is that you're trying to fit into someone else's audience (in this case ESPN).

Now let's say this same company decided that instead of investing their resources in TV ads, they were going to focus on growing their social media following and influence. After 1 year of consistent content flow and engagement they have managed to grow a their following to 500K using only FREE social media platforms. This audience may seem small compared to ESPN BUT, these 500,000 people are YOUR audience, they are narrowed in on your vision and completely aligned with you brand. They are invested in your process and cheering you on every step you take. These are your LOYAL customers. This is your tribe and together, you will be successful!

The Girls Who Inspired Me to Launch AMR Digital

I want to take a moment to shoutout you one of my favorite #girlboss #influencer accounts @bucketlistbombshellsbucketlistbombshells

One year ago, I was sitting on my couch scrolling through my Facebook feed on my phone, wondering what the efff I was going to do with my life. (I had just quit my job and moved back home with my parents - needless to say it was not a high point in my life). _
I stumbled upon Cassie and Shay’s Instagram @bucketlistbombshells . They were two brilliant young entrepreneurs who had quit their desk jobs and started their own online business while simultaneously traveling the world full time. Their feed was a stunning collection of photos showing them (two best friends) traveling around the world, visiting amazing destinations, and loving life all while making a killer living working remotely.

Before I knew it I was two years deep in their feed, feeling like a serious stalker! But I didn’t care because, for the first time in a long time I felt inspired and hopeful and excited. I had this amazing realization that this was what I was meant to be doing with my life.

Looking back now, I can’t believe this is actually my life. I LOVE my job, I work whenever and wherever I want, and I wake up every morning with a burning passion for life. And I owe a huge THANK YOU to these girls @bucketlistbombshells for encouraging me to actually go for it!

I created AMR with the same intention. I want to be that person for you and your business who helps you share your message with the world and transform your dream into a reality!

3 Things You Should Never Feel Guilt For

No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.

So.... don’t let them!

It’s hard to stand up for yourself and stay true to your vision all the time. But it’s even harder to end up in a position where you feel like you’ve lost yourself and your purpose in life.

Notice how I say hard, not impossible! If you are in that place where you feel lost or guilty or hopeless, know that you are not stuck there. It’s NEVER too late to make a change!

How to Make the Leap from Quitting your 9-5 Desk Job to Being your own BOSS!

I know I’m always posting about the importance of taking control of your life and encouraging you to make that leap towards accomplishing your goals. Well taking that leap and actually quitting your job is freaking scary. I’ve been there and I totally get it. But, I’m also here to calm your nerves and tell you, once again, to have faith in the process!!

I honestly believe that the key to success in starting your own business is having the ability to sell yourself and your idea.

I know at least half of you are thinking.... sales?! Fuck, that’s not what I want to do with my life. There are two types of people in the world sales people and non-sales people. I am most definitely a non-sales person.

To put things in perspective, my first job out of college I worked selling advertising for Yelp. I worked there for 3 months and made ZERO sales. The worst part was I was really trying!! I busted my butt everyday. (If I hadn’t I definitively would have been fired haha). Anyways, long story short, I was the worst sales person everrrrr.

So after what felt like the longest 3 months of my life. I QUIT - it was the best day I’d had in a longggg time! I had no idea what I was going to do with my life but I knew it was not going to be sales.

A couple months later I started AMR and within the first quarter I was making sales like crazy! And it was so easy and natural!!

How is this possible? The key to selling anything (whether it be yourself or a product) is passion. When you are super passionate about something it shows in your voice, your energy, and your presence and that energy is contagious!! It gets other people super excited about what you’re doing! And then SALES happen. And then just like that you have income! And stability! And most importantly - MOMENTUM! And that’s how you make the leap from quitting your 9-5 desk job to being your own BOSS!

The Cost of Kindness

It costs absolutely nothing to be kind and supportive!

Starting your own business is a wild and crazy and emotional roller coaster. All of you entrepreneurs out there know this. And I’m sure you all remember those people who made you feel insecure about your dreams. The ones who told you that you’d never make it, and urged you to play it safe and minimize your ambition. The ones who were just waiting for you to fail (and you did, but you got up and KEPT TRYING). Sometimes it’s not the words they say but just the tone of their voice or look in their eye that you can tell they think you’re crazy.

Now I want you to reflect on who your biggest supporter is. The person or people that have been there and believed in through every up and down. The ones who challenge you to think even bigger because they know you are destined for great things. These are the people who help us rise!

It’s up to you who you want to be. You can’t control the haters but you can control yourself and how you impact the people you know and love. So be that person that inspires and supports others. Entrepreneurship can be a rocky and lonely path. Everyone needs someone in their corner to believe in them and cheer them on!

Building a Brand Step 1

@mattgottesman always has the wisest words! This one really resonates with me though.

One of the most challenging and also rewarding parts of owning your own business is holding the power to write your own code of ethics. You no longer have a boss to tell you what’s right or wrong. In fact when you start, you don’t really have anyone. It’s up to you to decide what’s right, moral and ethical and what’s not.

This can be intimidating, trust me I get it! Im still figuring this one out. All I know for sure is that you have to stay true to your values and your vision. At the end of the day that’s what makes your brand.

Authenticity guaranteed. Always.

Clients ask me all the time why I advise against using bots for social media growth. The reason is AUTHENTICITY. Being authentic to you and your brand is the number one way to build a strong following that is actually engaged in your content and aligned with your vision. You can’t fake personality, emotion, and connection. Unfortunately there is no shortcut when it comes to building influence. However, there are strategies that you can implement to maximize your growth authentically and organically to create a strong and engaged following!

Young, Wild and Free

When you’re young everyone is obsessed with qualifications (or rather lack of qualification). How many years of experience do you have? How many degrees do you have? Ect.

When you tell someone you want to build an empire, the first question they ask is what makes you qualified to possibly be able to do that. It’s these questions that make us doubt ourselves and our abilities. We have this idea as a society that as a young professional you must put in your time working some shitty entry level job so that you will eventually be “qualified” to get a job you enjoy.

I think that’s bullshit. When your trying to create something completely new and revolutionary, nobody is qualified! That’s what makes it new and revolutionary!!! (Duhhh) It doesn’t matter how many years of experience you have, when it comes to building an empire what you really need is passion, ambition and the ability to adapt, evolve and improve as you go. So don’t wait, sometimes you just have to jump and figure out how to fly on the way down!

Colorado Born, Boulder Based

Boulder, Colorado is an entrepreneurial powerhouse like no other. In 2010, the city had six times more high-tech start-ups per capita than the nation's average, according to an August 2013 study by the Kauffman Foundation, and twice as many per capita as runner-up San Jose-Sunnyvale in California.

The stats are undeniable but what I love most about Boulder is the energy. Boulder is one of those strange places where it seems like no one works yet everyone has money. How is that possible?! Ever heard the saying “do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life”? ... Boulder is living, breathing proof of this! One of the many reasons we have been named the happiest city in the United States for years on end!

Needless to say, I feel beyond blessed to call this crazy town home! 💕

It's never too late to be whoever you want to be!

I’ve had a print out of this quote hanging in my bedroom for the past five years. It’s one of my all time favorites.

After graduating from college I took my first job at @yelpsf. I quickly realized that it was a horrible fit for me. I literally felt like I was withering away in a stuffy office while this huge world of opportunity passed me by. (I know that sounds dramatic) but It was completely soul crushing and left me feeling beat down and depressed every single day.

I couldn’t help but wonder what was wrong with me. There were thousands of other people working this same job, in the same office and they were doing just fine. Why was I so miserable?! ...maybe I was just lazy? Unmotivated? Not cut out for the working world? I thought up countless reasons. It took me a long time to realize that these reasons were really just excuses. I knew I needed a change and a big one but I was scared to start all over.

Finally I couldn’t take it anymore, so I quit my job. I left San Francisco. I changed my circle, surround myself with positive people who knew that there wasn’t anything wrong with me. People who saw I was destined for something bigger and greater in life when I couldn’t see it in myself. It was freaking hard, it took time and adjustment but slowly and surely I felt my fire start burning again! My dreams got bigger, my motivation stronger, and with that came results! And guess what?! AMR is still a tiny little baby with a super bright future and so many more exciting things to come!

So for anyone out there who may feel stuck, depressed or hopeless in their current situations. Just know, there is nothing wrong with you! Starting over is hard but the payoff is huge. So find yourself a great support system and take the leap! I believe in you!!
