5 Resources To Stay On Top of TikTok and Instagram Reels Trends

The music, the memes, even the editing styles on TikTok often exit the zeitgeist as soon as they enter it. While it’s not smart to try and chase every single one of these trends, honing in on a few every month is a great opportunity to go viral and expand your audience! Here are five tools that make it easy to stay on top of the trends.

TikTok’s Discover page

First and foremost, TikTok’s Discover tab is your best source for what is trending on the app that day. As I write this, for instance, TikTok says the Reading Rainbow theme song is the top trending song. (This data point will surely date this blog post because this trend will be passé in a few days!)

Take a look at how creators are using the song, which filters they are pairing with it, and how others are iterating on the meme. Then try it out yourself!

TikTok also compiles trending hashtags and trending camera effects. These may be more challenging to fit into content about your niche, but if anything catches your eye, try it out!

TrendTok

TrendTok uses AI to predict songs, sounds, hashtags, and other trends that are about to go viral. This is a great way to get ahead of trends before they become oversaturated. You can also filter by what is trending near you, among your favorite creators, or within your niche.

TokBoard

TokBoard is a simple weekly ranking of which songs were used most on TikTok in the last week. This is an easy way to sample several songs at once to decide which one you like most and want to use in your video.

Filter popular videos on TikTok

Hit the search bar within TikTok and type in a subject related to your niche. At the top right corner of the screen is a filter symbol. Filter videos by “this week” and “most liked.” Boom! You have the most popular new videos within your niche. There will be tons of trends to explore in this selection.

Peruse the web and other social media

Distractify writes frequently about TikTok trends and influencer news. The Reels Tips account on Instagram is a great resource for trending audio and trending video tutorials. Check out what’s trending on Twitter and what’s happening in the news. There are resources everywhere you look!

Bonus!

Here comes the best part. If Instagram is an important platform for your business, take what you learn from what’s trending on TikTok and bring it over to an Instagram Reel ASAP. One of the best things you can do for reach is to import the sound yourself so that it is original to your account. (Watch how to do that here!)

Video trends almost always emerge from TikTok and then make their way over to Instagram a few days or weeks later. If you can be the first person to bring a viral sound from TikTok to Instagram Reels, your video will forever be associated with that sound!
