If you’re starting up a new business, you certainly have no shortage of items on your to-do list, and I’m sorry (not sorry) to add to it!

But creating a LinkedIn page for your business is a must if you want to build credibility and grow your following online. Not to mention, a business page is important for you and your future employees to have for their own work histories on LinkedIn. It’s also one of the best places to post job opportunities.

So, let’s dive right in!

Step 1: You need a personal LinkedIn account

If you already have your own LinkedIn account, you are ready to proceed to Step 2! If you don’t have an account yet, simply go to LinkedIn.com. Click “Join now,” type in your name and email address, and create a password. Be sure to use your real name; this is a professional network after all!

Step 2: Create your company page!

Once you’re logged in to your personal account, click the “Work” button at the top right of your screen.

Scroll down to the bottom and click “Create a Company Page.”

You’ll have three types of pages to choose from: Company, Showcase page, and Educational institution. Most of you reading this will choose to create a Company page.

Step 3: Enter your company information

Here LinkedIn will prompt you to enter your company’s name and a unique LinkedIn URL. If your company name is already in use, you’ll have to add another word or two to make it unique.

On this page you’ll also enter your company details, including your industry, company size, and company type.

Now upload your company’s logo and tagline. If you don’t have either of these details locked down yet, you can always add or change them later.

Step 4: Verify

Lastly, verify that you are an authorized representative of your company, and hit the “Create page” button at the bottom of the screen.

Ta-da! Now you have a shiny new company LinkedIn page!

Step 5: Start creating content for your LinkedIn page

If you are ready to start promoting your new business, creating content for LinkedIn is a must. Don’t know how to start? Check out our complete guide on the kind of content you should be posting to your LinkedIn company page.

Don’t forget to share your company’s updates to your personal page to boost reach!
